So I know many people get pins without paying, but what would be the USD or other currency equivalent for pins? I noticed lots of bounties going unanswered so I wondered I put a pin amount that is equal to the real money cost of the pattern maybe that will get it answered? I also don't want to put too much bc I worked hard for my pins.

I wouldn't say that pins have equivalent in real money. You can pay money and get pins, but you can' ...

To add to the thread at large, rather than just off-top comment... Even if there is a high bounty, if no-one has the thing you want, it won't be uploaded.

For example there is bounty I've seen around 10000 pins. But no upload in years. You could offer 1,000,000 pin but it won't mean a dang thing.

if you go by the amount you pay to buy pins, 50 yuan (€6.27, £5.43, $7.23) gets you 2000 pin meaning a single pin is worth ~ 0.025 yuan/€0.003/£0.003/$0.004. The minimum bounty is 500 pin which is ~12.5yuan/€1.57/£1.36/$1.81. I guess it depends on how much the pattern costs and whether you want it quickly (buy it directly) or are willing to pay with your time (earning pins and waiting for the bounty to be solved).

Thank you! Yeah I’m wondering if it would get a bounty answered quicker if I paid enough pins that is equal to or slightly more than the cost of the pattern  Post time 2026-3-30 03:21

In my opinion, bounty is used to motivate people to share what they already have. I wouldn't expect someone buy pattern with real money just to get virtual currency for it.
But if i already have a pattern, i would share it, pins i would get for it is a bonus.

Agreed on not necessarily expecting people to pay to answer a bounty, I guess I was trying to figure out a way or formula to entice posting without necessarily “overpaying”  Post time 2026-3-31 09:01

If you make a bounty post for something you want you have to pay the pins upfront and if that pattern never gets uploaded you've just lost a bunch of pins. I posted once and the bounty never got answered, but eventually the pattern was uploaded to the site. I could be wrong, but it seems like very few bounties ever get answered. I've actually went through pages and pages a few times to see if I had anything I could upload to get pins and there are a whole lot that have never got claimed.

Thanks for that info, I guess I must’ve gotten lucky I’ve posted 3 bounties so far and two of them were answered within a few weeks. The third one I guess won’t be given how long it’s been  Post time 2026-4-15 20:33
