I used an original kit bought in 2022, just changed the fabric for a 28 ct ivory evenweave. Started it in 2022, and stopped. Then stitched it a little in 2023 and 2024, and put away again because other projects got in the way..
This time I decided to finish it, once and for all:), and here it is.
I am not going to have it framed but there is a story behind this design. It reminds me of the time I spent in France many years ago, studying French at a language school in Annecy. I was placed with a host family: a mother, a father, and their 26 y.o. daughter. They were to provide accommodation and daily meals (breakfast and dinner). All three were very skinny people, and they ate little, like birdies. I was of normal weight for my height but for an average American dining on little salad and soup-puree is not serious, to put it mildly. After each family dinner I went to bed half-starved and all night had dreams of food, food, food...
However, a few days into my studies I discovered a nice patisserie (cake shop) not far from my language school. The assortment of the dessert goodies was impressive. They were bakery masterpieces, beautiful and super delicious. I made a point to visit the shop and try a new goodie each day: mille-feuille, éclair, tarte framboise, gâteau opéra, etc. etc. After having a little dessert snack, I was ready to have a dinner with my host family, and I no longer felt "undernurished".
Having finished my language course, even after such rich-on-pastries diet I returned back to the US with a slightly improved French and 13 pounds lighter, o-la-la! I felt great and rejuvenated. Vive la France!
