How do you use variegated thread?

Thanks for the tips! I will give the spiralling out a try soon. Im currently working on Santas village and its the first time working with variegated threads. I love the effect of stripes on the buildings, but possibly the spiralling effect would work better on the other things.

I havent used any yet, but I love the idea of varigated thread because you can use it to get so many different effects!

I always stitch a whole cross with any thread, that way you dont have to undo a whole row if one cross is wrong.
