Im doing this SODA pattern for my sisters birthday, she loves Korean Historical Dramas, so I have to finish it before June 21. I ordered the threads and fabric 2 weeks ago and finally got them on friday.

Grid :300W*790H
Fabric : DMC Aida White 14ct
Floss : 30 DMC colors (using 2 strands)

Ive already prepared the fabric (basted it using masking tape) and threads.

I worked on it a little every evening for 3 hours. So far Ive completed all skin for prince and started on queen. Hopefully by the end of the week I will finish the skin.

Week 1: 05/09/2010 to 05/11/2010
progress_week1.JPG

It took me longer than I thought to finish the skin. So glad its over, I was starting to get sick of the color. Now Im going to start with all clothes that are in the blue family color, starting with the noble son (2nd character from the left).

Week 2: 05/16/2010 to 05/22/2010
progress_week2.JPG

Im almost done with the blue family color. I still have two variations of it. Ill be moving on to the red family color soon. Im so happy its starting to take shape.

Week 3: 05/23/2010 to 05/29/2010
progress_week3.JPG

I missed a few days this week. So Im still sticking red colors, but its coming along well. Although Im not very crazy about the dark red. Theres is such a huge difference between it and the medium red color. Its really apparent on the first character on the left, the noble daughter. Find it too dark for a child.

Week 4: 05/30/2010 to 06/05/2010
progress_week4.JPG

I finished all the reds, Ive moved on to pinks and soon will be doing the purples.

Week 5: 06/06/2010 to 06/12/2010
progress_week5.JPG

I finished all the purple and finally added the hair, some of them still look like monks cause I still have to do their hats. I started greens and Ill be doing the yellow and orange this week as well.

Week 6: 06/13/210 to 06/19/2010
progress_week6.JPG

I finished all the green and orange, only have yellows left to do. I will next do the white and sky blue. If I have time this week I will also try to start on charcoal and black. Cant believe its almost done, although Im sorry I wont be able to finish it in time for my sisters birthday :(

Week 7: 06/20/210 to 06/26/2010
progress_week7.JPG

I managed to finish the white and sky blue. I finished the dark charcoal. I only have to do light charcoal and black and then I can start backstitching. Ive never really backstitched before. Any advice on how to start and end a backstitch without using knots?

Week 8: 06/27/210 to 07/03/2010
progress_week8.JPG

I didnt have much time to stitch this week. I still have some black to stitch and then I can get started on backstitching. Its almost done ^_^

Week 9: 07/04/2010 to 07/10/2010
progress_week9.JPG

Finally started backstitching. Running out of black, so I will have to buy some more soon.

Week 10: 07/11/2010 to 07/17/2010
progress_week10.JPG

Still doing the backstitching in black. Still have 4 more characters to go.

Week 11: 07/18/2010 to 07/22/2010

Finally finished!!! For a closer look, see below. Loved doing this project, it was the perfect pattern for a first project.

For those of you who liked my gridding, heres what the thread looks like after taking it all out:

It took me as much time to take it out as it did putting it in. But in the end it was worth it, I didnt make any mistakes because of it.

The project took me 58 days of stitching, a total of 255 h 30 min (plus 6 hrs to bast and grid the fabric) to complete. I was stitching between 45 minutes to sometimes 13 hours total a day.

thanks for sharing. it seem easier to stitch using your method by marking the fabric.

It took a while and it gets annoying but its really worth it. I used to use a different method but this is way faster. The only I can say though is dont use red thread like I did to mark the fabric, you get a bunch of red floss on the fabric and Im scared itll ruin it.

Oh well I learned my lesson. Although there is a product you can buy where the marking thread is made out of some kind of plastic wire thats easy to pull out later.
