How do you organize your patterns?
Hello everyone, I have a question, over the years I have collected a large numbr of patterns, both for Pattern Maker and PCStitch, the thing is that I have little time to clasify them and put them in named folders, how do you do it, I know I have beautiful thing I wolud like to share with you, but can“t find the!Any suggestions???
thanks!
Paula I save my in folders using the designers name and then name each folder in the designer folder with the name and number of the pattern.I have two external harddrives I keep them on so just in case my computer crashes or gets a virus. My CrossStitch Saga is full of the .xsd patterns that I hope to stitch one day. Organizing them - ha! - this idea has never crossed my mind. Why? Because I stitch 2-3 patterns mostly per year (the rest of the year I stitch kits). Usually the pattern I am working on currently, is on top - that means you don't need to look for it, you open the app, and it's right there. After the pattern is done, it gets deleted. Then I go to another pattern that becomes my WIP and goes on top of all the pattern collection. So my question is, Why organizing the patterns at all? other than taking the time, not much else you can do
The only other possible suggestion is to rename when you save - perhaps (for instance) say you have some Silver Lining floral patterns, either save them as SilverLining______ (name of pattern) or Floral___________ (name of pattern) and when theyre saved on your computer, theyll at least be able to locate by type first, then pattern name. OOPPS are you supposed to organise them, I dont think that word is in my stitchers dictionary lol Post Last Edit by predire at 1-2-2011 03:33
I put them in a folder with the name of designer. I usually go by subject. Then on the folder for the pattern, I put the designer as well.
Example - Sunflowers, then Sunflowers_MysticStitch Reply 5# Aonach
Thank you girls for your suggestions! Thanks for sharing. =):) I save the patterns in a folder in the name of the Designer. For the ones that have Designers that are unknown I save in a folder according to the subject.
