Kits or patterns?

Do you prefer buying a kit and working it or working from a pattern? I think both are the same cost in the long run as normally I wont use an entire skein that I buy and now I have over 950 skeins of floss!! Not much fabric though.

Я в основном вышиваю по схемам, но если понравился комплект возьму и его.
