I stitched a couple of reds onto a piece of fabric and then soaked it in warm water... I didnt see any bleeding... I wonder if it varies by batch! I hate how reds are always the ones that bleed/fade

i was taught to wash my finished work in lukewarm water, to not squeeze it just gently moving it around
but i used dmc for baby bibs and they washed well till 60 celsius,
no loss of colors and the stains were removed,
would not dare it with a larger piece
I think only christmas red and navy blue may bleed.

Yes, I just wash my finished work in warm soapy water and then rinse, squeeze and hang it out to dry. I have had no problems yet

Ive never had a problem with brand name thread bleeding (dmc/anchor) only cheaper thread or overdyed where the dye hasnt been set properly. But I only ever handwash anything stitched.
You could test it before you start by stitching a few squares of each color onto a scrap then washing it the way you plan to wash the completed item to see if it bleeds.
