Hippo-03.jpg

My progress so far.  This pattern is so interesting that I cannot stop once started working on it.

Edit:  I used magic loop instead of ch5 to start the motif.  I used the join-as-you-go method to join the motifs together.

I love the colors you have picked :)  Post time 2013-11-8 01:07
For me the join as you go method is rather easy and it´s definitiv less work than having to sew everything together in the end  Post time 2013-11-4 22:51
It looks beautifull  Post time 2013-11-4 18:04
Beautiful work so far! How is the attach as you go method? That's what I'm thinking of doing too  Post time 2013-11-3 11:57

so it´s ok when we start already now? I just started because I wanted to try how it works with the join as you go method and wondered wether it´s ok if I continued because it´s so great to see how it gets bigger. But there are a lot of holes in my crochet motiv and I´m afraid the filling would come out there. I try to attach a picture or to to show what I mean

I love your colors! Trying to think what you can do about the stuffing.  Post time 2013-11-8 01:12
The only place I can think of is the internet. I didn't have luck finding it at Joanne's or Michael's  Post time 2013-11-5 20:03
I´ve thought about dark coloured stuffing but don´t know where to buy it.  Post time 2013-11-5 05:05
I am also a little worried about that.... I am using a dark grey. Hopefully we can figure something out! Other people have used black and dark colors...we can do this! :)  Post time 2013-11-5 05:03
They sell dark colored stuffing...I understand it can be hard to find but have you thought of that at all? Maybe you can also try stuffing a little in there now and see how it looks?  Post time 2013-11-5 05:02
Yes you can definitely start if you're ready! By all means! I do see what you mean with the holes...I am extending or practice out for another week so time is not an issue. I'll post the new thread sh  Details Reply Post time 2013-11-5 01:14

Yes you can definitely start if you're ready! By all means! I do see what you mean with the holes...I am extending or practice out for another week so time is not an issue. I'll post the new thread shortly.

Some things to keep in mind: are your stitches nice and tight? Maybe try using a smaller hook size or a thinner thickness of yarn? I have a habit of stitching to tight already but I haven't started practicing just yet. You are correct though the stuffing will definitely show through. I suggest reading back through the tips in the pattern...maybe you'll find some better answers there too :)

Maybe work a few more and see how it looks by stuffing a little...I'm starting today so I'll let you know what I find. Maybe there's another trick we're missing  Post time 2013-11-5 20:09
These holes are in the original pattern too, but since mine is getting so dark I´m afraid you´ll see it. I use to stitch very tight and I use a hook smaller than its said on the wool :(  Post time 2013-11-5 03:51
See tips #7 and 8...hope that helps :)  Post time 2013-11-5 01:34
