Stitching on wrong size

Would it be noticibly different if i stitched an 18 count on a 28 count linen?

If your stitching over 2 its the same as a 14 count so the piece would be bigger... if your stitching over 1 its going to be a lot smaller.

Here is a good calculator that will give you the measurements Just fill in how many stitches, what size count fabric and if stitching over 1 or 2 and it will give you the size of your project :)

Am not quite sure if I understood correctly your situation.  Heres my take :
1) 28ct linen when stitched over 2 threads is equivalent to 14ct aida
2) 18ct, assuming its aida, is equivalent to 36ct linen stitched over 2 threads

If you plan to stitch a design originally charted for an 18ct aida/36 ct linen over 2 on a 28ct linen, here are the possible sizes of the completed design.  Lets assume your design measures 100 stitches by 100 stitches :
1) stitched on 28ct linen over 2 threads : 7.14in x 7.14in
2) stitched on 28ct linen over 1 thread : 3.57in x 3.57in

If you stitch the design on 18ct aida or 36ct linen over 2 threads, the completed design should measure :
1) 5.55 in x 5.55 in

Thank you all so much! This is exactly what I was looking for! I prefer working on linen so much more than aida. Do they sell 36 count?

Always double check the size you need before purchasing and starting your project on a piece of fabric stored at home.   Ive started something...........and of course the fabric is too small.  Made a lot of headway and found I cannot go any further.  Stupid mistake.  Its still in my pile to do, but a lot of it needs taking out.
Remember count twice, stitch once measure twice cut once.   Better to over think it than to be short or have to take it out.
Material comes in all different sizes, counts and colours.   Im sure you will find the perfect piece!

The calculations above are for design areas only.  Do remember to add borders.  If you want a 3in border for framing, this is how it looks like. Assume that finished design area is stitched on 28ct linen over 2 threads hence 7.14in x 7.14in :

3in left + 7.14in height + 3in right = 13.14in
3in top + 7.14in width + 3 in bottom = 13.14 in

Rounding up the numbers, the material you need is at least 14in x 14 in.

The starting point is another story :)
