Aida?

I use both aida and linen depending on the project, but if I had to choose just one I must admit that I prefer a nice linen evenweave. To me, my stitching just looks nicer, neater and smoother when stitched on linen, I dont like the visible holes and grid-like appearance of aida for important/larger projects. Evenweave is much prettier, especially when its hand-dyed! But I do use aida for certain projects... usually smaller projects where Ill be cutting out little squares, mainly greeting cards, small ornaments, stuff like that. And I use aida if I purchase a kit that comes with aida.

Up until my last project I was Aida and Id still go back. The 25 count even weave Im using has grown on me and Im enjoying the look of stitching on thread but its not quite got the same ease and enjoyablilty of my other projects. Maybe its the even weave Ive picked but Im still struggling.

Havent used aida in more than 20 years :-) I had to use it a few months ago as it was what came in the kit. Had a really difficult time going back :-)

I use Aida, evenweave and plastic canvas too.
All have their uses.

Ive been using aida since I started and I still do! I may try out evenweave in the future but it seems a little more difficult :o

I dont like aida. I dont like the way it looks in a finished piece & I dont like the feel of it when Im stitching. I also prefer evenweave over linen (just like the feel of it better when Im stitching but have to admit linen looks nicer as a finished piece compared to evenweave). If I get given a kit that has aida in it, I swap it out for something else.
