Hello all,

I'm (hopefully!) about to undergo a new project series, and I have a quick question.

Do I need to pre-wash my DMC embroidery thread before starting?  And, if so, what is the best way to do so?

Any and All advice wanted and apprecaited!  <3

I've never prewashed my DMC threads and haven't had a problem.  I have never used a bright red which I heard can run so you should prewash

I've never washed my DMC thread before I use it.  It's a pretty colourfast thread.  However when purchasing brands you are not familiar with or in kits, I would wash them as I've had other brands run after the stitching was done.
Beware of reds, purples and blues, these are most likely to run.  If I am not sure of the quality I will swap them out with a close shade of DMC and donate those unsure threads to charity.

I never pre-vash my threads, but use only DMC and Anchor.
I use lukewarm water with some mild detergent when washing my finished piece.

I've never pre-washed any DMC, but I found out that Polish brand (Ariadna) - red, blue - better be pre-washed. DMC is a fine brand and I've never had any problems with it :)

I haven't prewashed DMC or any specialty threads. I am just very careful with my projects (clean hands, etc.) so that I don't have to wash them after I finish them.

some colors I wash before I use them: very dark cplors and red ones ... they are sometimes bleeding, I don´t want them to do so.

I never pre-wash my threads
but I have bad experience with DMC 666,
during the stitching with 666 ,
the thread has coloured the fabric red

In another forum I found a test done by a stitcher: she put a small sample embroidered with DMC in bleach and color resisted very well (it was blue, I don't remember the number), so I think DMC quality is very good and I dont't think I need pre-wash thread.
