I'm thinking of buying a loom to weave scarves with fingering and lace weight yarns.   Does anyone here have any experience  with this?   I'm still trying to figure out what kind of loom?

I started by making a frame loom from an old stretcher frame.  I looked up on you tube how to do it.  I want to practice on this inexpensive loom with my scrap yarn and then move up to a rigid heddle.  I talked to Christine at GIST: Yarn and Fiber who was very helpful in giving me tips on how to chose my first loom.  They are in the USA.  I was also looking for a weavers forum to talk to other beginners to share experiences.

there are some great facebook pages for weaving based on the type of loom you have or want.  They have great advice and are an excellent resources.  Trying joining a few.
Here is a pic of my very first weaving project.  I bought my self a Beka 24" rigid heddle loom and joined a few Rigid Heddle Loom FB pages and learnt a lot of things before I started.

I haven't had my looms out in 30 years but hope to one day soon.  The warp yarn is now so expensive but it is a very satisfying hobby.

I am talking my husband into helping me build a loom. We'll be working on it this weekend and I hope to be able to start playing with weaving in the next week or two!
