Why did you get started crafting?

So why or how did you get started crafting?

I was around fourteen, and it was a money issue for me.  My late father was an amazing person, but he loved to spend.  So if I liked something, I had to make it myself.  When I started getting into art, I was mainly drawing even though I had done embroidery a good six or seven years before.  I only drew for the longest, and that began with me wanting a Sailor Moon poster.  "Its only $4, Mom!"

"You want it so bad, draw it yourself."

So I did.  It was MAGNIFICENT to my fourteen year old self.  After many years, I noticed that the quality for homemade items seems much better than the store.  My mom sewed (made my wedding dress) and did all types of embroidery or homemade Christmas ornaments or decorated furniture like a professional.  I kind of followed suit.  And crafts make awesome gifts!

Both of my parents were very talented artists, my father is actually still creating:  he makes really cool contemporary pottery, has people who collect his creations, and hes 95 years old!

Anyway, I was always raised around a lot of art and crafts but my own great love was and is knitting, which started when I was taught to knit at the age of about 9 and a half.  I am a grandmother now and I knit all of the time.  I sell some of my creations, too.

My house is a mess of yarn, but I make beautiful things and my life is enriched in part by enriching the lives of others!
