I think it might be 5 comments = 1 credit. Not completely sure, but I just noticed a 2 credit increase when I made about 10 comments. I dont think Im gonna do 50 more comments tonight, though! lol

Im hoping maybe add friends and leave threads on other peoples pages. Unless i can do it know and just dont know how.

yep. You also get points for commenting on work others do. You can go to "tasks" a few times and click on there and get coins.
