My sentiments exactly.  Does it really matter if the patterns are "newer"?  Im a patternaholic but in reality Ill never make most of the patterns I have so with the increased cost Ive become much, much more selective, I absolutely refuse to pay 200 GC.  Ive downloaded a lot today but 100 GC or under and things Ill actually make.  Im on a fingerless mitts, hats, and sock binge. The mitts and hats are quick and always useful.  Socks take a bit more time LOL.

I dont think it really makes a difference about the patterns newness since the price will be 200GC even when the pattern is old but I would imagine it would make the person who is selling it think it is worth more. Though I think a lot of people that would have bought it just to have it will not buy it now since it is so expensive - just like you and me. So maybe the person selling it would make more coins with a cheaper cost because more people would buy it.

It seems like this site is so focused on coins and people just want to get more and arent really thinking about sharing in the community. But then maybe the rewards of coins are why there are some harder to find patterns on this site. I have gotten several here that the other places I go dont have. (Though maybe Im not going to the right other places.)

PLUS 330 GC to download the 11 parts - they charge you for each in addition to the 50 GC for each part posted. AND you have to buy each piece or you wont have the entire book!  What Ive done when posting multiple parts is to put a price on the FIRST one (and nowhere near the total cost of 550 GCs) and the rest - no cost cause the folks have to pay that darned 30 GC for each download even if its free! What this does is prevent someone like me who owns the book also, from posting it at a reasonable GC price.  I guess they  figure because there is more than one pattern they can justify the cost.  Pretty soon magazines will be at that price also - wait and see.  Apparently some people just dont care about how long it took them to get the coins so they just spend them.  I wont do it and if everyone else stayed on board and didnt buy them either it would stop.  Im becoming much more selective with my GCs - only buying what I think I will actually make and NOT paying more than 100 GC for ANYTHING.  Like anything else, if you dont buy something the "store" (in the case the people posting) will get the picture and post at a lower cost. Thats JMHO.  

PS - just looked up current pricing - $9.99 US for my Kindle (and I converted it).  I buy things because I WANT them and if I can share at a reasonable cost and get some GCs thats great, otherwise its just greed IMHO.  And, if you have the money to purchase things simply to put them for sale here you dont really need all those GCs do you?

I agree totally. Latest patterns are 200 gcs, its a lot, but we can just not buy any at all, cant we? No, Im afraid I cant. But we can ask for a lower price. Please, mates, consider asking for less gc,s, so that we can all be happy.

I agree with you, see that the prices are very high, the new ones must work harder to get to the level to download a pattern, its not only the knitting but more patterns of different crafts.

I have to admit, it is very discouraging.  Especially when Ive found that making comments and various other things, dont always work in giving you coins.  The limit on how much you can charge should be lowered, in my opinion, to something more people could afford.  Why is that limit even so high?  Not to mention, once someone puts the pattern up for a high price, someone else cant post it again for a lower price..that high price is stuck forever....right? :(

It used to be "affordable", I think people just get greedy.  Im going to find out how to send you some GC so you can download some things.  Its so discouraging when youre a newbie and it takes so long to get GCs.  You dont get GC for posting in "free talk" (you might get some after so many posts but not individually).  The best thing is to post in the forums for the patterns themselves.  Although, recently I havent received the 5 GC for every post Ive made and Ive waited the mandatory time between postings.  Let me go check how to send you GC.

I agree with you all the point of this forum for me was to share and to make it so everyone could afford the download.  But that has changed those you buy or collect these patterns charge too much for the average user.
If I can I look elsewhere on the net for the pattern or chart.
