Need advice on fabrics

I need some advice from more experimented fellows stitchers. Some time ago, I took over a project started at least 15 yeas ago and I just realized that a portion of the fabrics yellowed. (see the pics)
As the project is not very advanced, I wonder if I should not rather start all over again.
Im afraid the yellowing will not go away with the wash when Im done :(

What do You think ? I need some opinion on this !

If it was me and I received this piece. I would wash it right away to see if the yellowing comes out.
Soak in mild detergent and see if the stain washes out or fades, give it at least a good half hour.  If not I would go to a stronger detergent and see if the stain eventually
disappears.   And my last choice for a stain is an oxyclean soak.  
If these methods dont work all is lost and I would toss it and start with new fabric.

Id like to mention that the floss colours may not match if you continue with new floss so you may have to remove the original stitching.   That all depends on the design
and how much colour is completed and how much remains to be done side by side.  Ive had this problem where the floss is the same number, but the shade of the colour
was different.  So I had to frog the original colour and fill in with the new floss setting aside the old floss for small areas not close by.

And yes I have been where you are at.  Having to wash not only the fabric ....... but the floss/thread as well.

I had read somewhere, soda-bi-carb helps in getting rid of stains of stitching....would you like to try that?

I agree with @CraftyLouAnna. After such a long time Id be more concerned with threads fading than with the yellowing itself. It might be possible the yellowing will not fade, but maybe stitching will cover it enough not to be visible? Also, Im not sure washing the fabric with still unfinished stitching is a good idea. The fabrics structure might "relax" too much.
So, in the ends, if the parts you alredy had stutched arent big - and you will not be loosing much work - I would strat again on a new fabric :)

waho, I have, not a second, think of the threads faddng ! Now that I have compared... the thread have fading. Thats seal the fate ! So I think I gonna start over. The yellowing fabrics is outside the design. Im gonna cut the stitching part fabricss and test washing to experiments.

I would wash it before finishing it.  Try soaking it in baking soda

I agree with @CraftyLouAnna and mephala87.
If the yellowing is uniform - nothing is wrong. Otherwise - start with new fabric.

Not everyone likes to embroider on the washed fabric.

if soaking in soda does not help remoce the yellowed stiches and restitch them.

If you are going to wash it, be careful to take all usual precautions against the thread colors running.  Ive had my thread color run in the past, so now Im hesitant to wash my embroidery and needlepoint.  I usually to a test swatch with the threads used, & wash it first before I do the project to ensure nothing runs.  Good luck.
