I like having smaller projects in zip bags or in bag-like folders. For bigger projects that dont fit into A4 folder I put all the thread, etc into a bag and then keep it together with the project that stays on its frame/hoop.
I also like putting floss for a project onto plastic bobbins and then the bobbins go onto one split ring, and when Im done with a color I move it to another split ring.
I have each started large embroidery stretched onto a frame, its scheme, materials and scissors with magnets and spare needles are stored in a separate zip bag. Small embroideries are stretched on a hoop and lie in a bag with materials. All packages are in a large box under the table. So, if I want to embroider some kind of work, I just take out the right package from the box, put the frame on the machine and embroider!

Thats exactly how Ive been doing it. I used to be a one at a time stitcher until recently. I have 5 going right now and its working for me to keep in gallon sized zip lock bags. I see lots on youtube using cute fabric project bags with zippers but theyre made of cotton and make it hard to see whats inside the bag. Its not fancy but its working for me.

Im a ziplock person as well - I have about 8 cross stitch projects going right now that I rotate through when I feel like Im getting sick of one, and Ive just always preferred using ziplock bags for it. Theyre clear so you can see what the project is without opening it, they seal on the top and you can squeeze all the air out and make it flatter for storage, and they come in different sizes.
