As good intended as this might be, it doesn't apply to all kind of non knitted/crochet dolls.
And I am not even talking about BJDs (ball-jointed dolls, generally resin) which is a whole different discussion.
Yes, the base scale will give an IDEA of fitting, but it is still NECESSARY to know which model the clothing is based on.
Barbies are 1:6, sure, but a clothing that will fit the "Tall" model of the Fashionistas will NOT fit a "Curvy", generally speaking.
Monster High are 1:6, but their clothes will NOT fit Barbies and even the clothing that fit a certain MH doll will NOT fit the other. Specially true with old versus new releases.
Even same bodies still migh have differences that will clash with fitting. Obitsu 27 and Pure Neemo Flection Full Action M have variants on breast sizes, so shirts and coats that fit the smaller breast sizes will not go well with their max sizes.
Head shapes vary a lot too, more wildly than bodies.
Ideally you need as most information as possible to know if the project will go well with your doll, or at minimum you should know the basics of changing the patterns to get the correct fit.
