In response to Addison - the greed comes in when people charge wildly ridiculous prices. Remember  ...

We used to have to put effort into earning coins... I have always bought patterns that I was interested in to fulfill bounties & I would post new patterns I bought on here asap. But since they started making it easy to get 500 coins per day on the app it seems like there is a real decline in people posting newly-released patterns (except amigurumi, plenty of those... but other patterns, such as knit patterns, now I rarely see something new). I assume because people now dont need to post patterns or make an effort to earn coins they dont bother sharing.

Theres also risk to the sharer - I have been banned by at least one designer for sharing a pattern, they must include tracking in their pdfs that I did not discover/I thought I had cleaned it. I have shared an ok amount of things, over 100, none of which were free to me and at minimum was a cost of $500 in my currency but now only share if I have sat on a pattern for a decent amount of time and am confident it cant be traced to me. (to explain why less newly released items are possibly shared)
