Wow, makes sense! Thanks alot! I did try it yesterday, mine are metal ones, a bit slippery so my tension isnt how it usually is in my wooden needle but I still I really like how many options this set opens up. Im still brand new to knitting so I hope Ill be able to tell the difference at some point

Where I live, Chiaogoo needles are on the higher end of mid-range price range needles.  Ive bought the more expensive needles and I dont use them any more since I bought by Chiaogoo needles.  On the more expensive needles, cables break, the joins arent smooth, or the cables wont straighten out.  Very frustrating.  With the cheaper needles Ive actually worn out the tips with the way I knit.  Ive put actual grooves in the tips, or the finish has worn away.  With my Chiaogoo I havent had any of those problems.  I wish when I started knitting, I had bought Chiaogoo instead of the other brands.  I figure I could have bought 4 complete sets of Chiaogoo needles with what I spent over the years on the more expensive and cheaper needle brands.  If I could go back in time I would tell my younger self to not bother with all the other brands.  As well Chiaogoo stands behind their products 100%.  If you have a problem, they honestly try to make it better.
If a new knitter asks what brand of needles they should get, I always recommend Chiaogoo.  Even if its to buy their fixed circular or a single interchangeable set.  If they cant figure out which type to buy (bamboo or length) I tell them to go to the nearest yarn shop and ask to try them out.  If the shop is any good, they will have samples to try out.

It can be expensive if you are buying custom dyed yarn or fibre.  I tend to work with wool or acrylic.  Not silks or one of the camlids.  I know me. Its going to end up on the front of me so I want it washable.  If you keep your eyes peeled for sales or good deals or for people in your area who are de-stashing, you will find the more expensive stuff cheaper too.  I found that joining my local knit group at my library was great for this because more eyes and knit networking keep me informed on what is going on locally for sales, festivals and just general good friends.

If you local library doesnt have a group, I recommend trying to work with them to set one up.  Its a great resource and good for the library too.

I really love my Chiaogoos. They were very expensive but I bought them, like 6-7 years ago and they are still going strong so I consider them an investment - how many needles Id have bought during that time otherwise, in order to have different cable lengths and needle sizes? Also, 99% of the time I use magic loop and not DPNs for small circumference knitting and the red cables are really good for that IMO.

I love chiaogoo too and prefer the 4" tips for its versatility! I do wish they made shorties in bamboo too though

Chiaogoo is pretty good for listening to their customers. Post on their Ravelry forum and see if they have plans. Who knows they might start making them if there is enough demand.  Post time 2024-1-7 02:51
