I use the dye kits that they sell at Easter to dye Easter Eggs.  I stock up on the kits after Easter, when stores clearance them out.  I usually get them for around $.20 a piece.

That's a great deal. I need to remember that because I want to try it.  Post time 2013-8-19 10:16

I can't wait to try the rit dyes.  I also have spray dyes for paper that will work on fabric.  They have shimmer in them also.  Fun to try especially on small projects.

I use the same vinegar that you use for cooking.  The clear one is best.

I've dyed fabric using both coffee and tea. I think coffee works better for the colors I wanted, but you'll have to try for yourself.

I am using kool aid and doing batik dying. I've tried that because I had kool aid left from dying mohair for teddy bear fur. And it worked. Just watch out if planning on using those as some of the colors are very intense.
