Well, we can not pay 200 gold coins and just comment "too many gold coins" and move on :lol

Perhaps that will get the point across.:P

Does anyone know if prices can be lowered once the pattern is approved?

I was able to edit text that went all wonky and it had to wait to be approved again. Guess I could have left it as it was and not caused another approval but it didnt look very good.

Maybe make an option for 200 gold coins for the first 30 60 or 90 days then drop the price to say 100 gold coins or 50.

Im passing on 200 gold coin patterns...:dizzy:

no one is going to lower their gcs. They are greedy.  Post time 2019-1-3 23:58
Ive wanted to say that but not sure how well the site administrators would react to negative comments on the uploads. My guess is its one uploader rather than many but others will see it and jump o  Details Reply Post time 2019-1-2 14:02

I agree totally. Latest patterns are 200 gcs, its a lot, but we can just not buy any at all, cant ...

Well, I for one, will not buy anything over 100 GC.  If enough people dont buy theyll get the message IMHO.  Im "buying" but not at those prices LOL.  Im a patternaholic but most of what I download Ill never make so if theres something I see that I KNOW Ill make, Ill actually get it from the designer on principle alone.  Its harder for a rich man to get into heaven than for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle - greed never really benefits anyone - just my opinion.

Absolutely. I also buy books and patterns from the authors sites when Im really interested. This is kind of a hobby and only a few patterns will become finished projects. Ill need about 3 more live  Details Reply Post time 2019-1-3 00:20

Ive wanted to say that but not sure how well the site administrators would react to negative comments on the uploads.  My guess is its one uploader rather than many but others will see it and jump on board.  Some folks have already downloaded the patterns at that cost.  I guess because its not real $$$ they think its OK and thats fine if it works for them but I just cant bring myself to pay that many GC - takes too long to get them.

Your suggestion about lowering the price after X amount of time might work but I doubt the site owners would be bothered with that kind of a change, I think theyre all volunteers and it would require a lot of coding to make it work (at least I think it would - things may  have changed since I was in IT).

Im not getting patterns that require more than 100 GC either. I can remember times when there were very good and new patterns for 30-60 GC.

The siteowner may be annoyed if prices are lowered. After all, he gets 30% every time for a DL.
In addition to the 30 GCs charged for each download.
The uploader gets e.g. 200 GC ./. 30 % = 140 GC. Which is still enough. No question about it.

And what does the site owner get with GC? Its not really money so I think they do it to discourage rather than encourage people. Serious question, I really dont know what they get :-)  Post time 2019-1-3 01:20

Absolutely. I also buy books and patterns from the authors sites when Im really interested. This is kind of a hobby and only a few patterns will become finished projects. Ill need about 3 more lives to knit and crochet everything I downloaded so far... but I recognize that I have bought some of these 200 GCs patterns, just because I liked them. But if most of the patterns are going to be so expensive, Ill lose interest soon. I cant spend such a lot of time trying to save GCs.

Id like to see some change happen where the pattern cost can be changed, or someone could upload it for cheaper.  Its really a shame to see such high costs and know they forever will be that high, b/c it cant be changed. :(

YES! This! Please!  Details Reply Post time 2019-1-4 00:05
I agree. I know someone on this site who saw the cost of 200 GC, got so upset they just went to the designers site and got it rather than support greed. More & more now that its started.  Post time 2019-1-3 10:56
