i made so many normal stitches amis before even realizing there was an x stitch. i honestly don’t think it matters in a true aesthetic way but it does make the animal more firm and upright like a true stuffed animal. and you don’t get the stuffing showing

I learned the "v" way. But nowadays it feels and looks a little bit odd to me. "x" seems to give more structure and tbh I didnt see a big or even noticeable sacrifice in softness at all.
To me "x" helps specially when using a bit cheaper acrylic yarns (because sometimes its all you have around you), the shape is less prone to get deformed.
And as superkrout mentioned above, the sturdiness helps when filling it too! Its harder to get the stuffing showing at all.

I like the X stitch way (yarn under) it fattens out the stitch so the project especially amigurumi isnt "holey"  projects using turns a use v stitch h like for blankets etc

Ohh I did not know this. I often wondered why some amigurumis looked different but I thought they were just using a different stitch. Thanks for the info!

I just learned the x way from tutorials. I do think it looks more uniform. It’s nice to see the comparison
